Friday night I had some of my downline over for a shoebox swap. Each person brought a project they had designed and then enough supplies for everyone to make the same project. We had decided ahead of time that we would all use stamps from the NEW Serendipity Street. There were only 4 of us, but we had a good time of stamping anyway. Here are three of the projects we created. (Mine is a secret for now!)
This is a cute little box designed by Marina Bonney. This is the little bear from Bountiful Bears T-3257. I used the Lilly Anna Soar With It Collection for mine.
We used a 12x12 piece of cardstock for the bottom of the box. Using a Scor-Pal, score your paper at 4 1/2 and 7 1/2. Turn and do it again. Then score at every corner at 1 1/2" down to the first score line. Turn your paper one quarter turn and do this again repeating until you have scored at all four corners. Starting at the last corner you just scored, cut in 1 1/2" on the scored line and then continuing your cut to the point of the center square. Do this at every corner. Finish by cutting all four rectangles off at the corners. These pieces measure 1 1/2 x 4 1/2. Then just glue your box together. Very easy and cute! The ideas you could use these for are limitless!
Here is a picture of what your 12 x 12 should look like:
For the lid, cut a piece of coordinating cardstock (again I used the Lilly Anna) to 5 1/2 x 5 1/2. Again, using your Scor-Pal, lay your paper at the 2 1/2" mark and score at 3 5/8 (this is the little arrow to the right of the 3). Turn your paper and do this on all 4 sides. Cut your flaps and assemble your lid.
Here is what your lid should look like:
As in all boxes, measurements and score lines need to be precise!
I love this landscape card designed by Maria Van Stratton using the Bug of Fun, T-3241 and the Rustic Chic 8x8 Wing It Collection.
Here is a cute little gift card holder designed by Marsha Gamber. These are made from our A2 envelopes.
She used the Surf Shoppe 8 x 8 Wing It Collection. This particular paper pack is retired, but is still available (while supplies last) on our website for just $2.00 per pad! You can order yours using my online catalog. That adorable turtle is from English Everyday Cuties T-3243.
I had to make another one of these. I chose the More Mimi double sided Soar With It Collection for mine. Here is a picture of the front:
I used the Birch envelopes for mine. These are so simple to make. Fold your envelope in half. Cut a small slit from the folded flaps. Here is a picture to give you an idea.
I covered the front and back with More Mimi cut to 4 1/2 x 2 5/8. That tag is also from the More Mimi collection. It is already printed and cut for you. All you have to do is punch it out, stamp it and add a ribbon (and some scrapper's floss too!) I cut a third piece of cardstock for the inside, stamped my images and it's ready to go. The gift card fits into the bottom section of the envelope!
Here is the inside:
We had a good time stamping and made plans for another day in the near future.
Before I forget to mention, we had this yummy lemon cake for dessert.
It's very simple to make. Here is the recipe so you can make your own. (I don't like lemon things, but I do like this cake. It is actually one of my favorites!)
Glazed Lemon Cake1 pkg. white cake mix
1 pkg. (3.4oz) instant lemon pudding mix
3/4 c. vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 cup lemon lime soda
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, oil and eggs; beat on medium speed for 1 minute. Gradually beat in soda. Pour into a greased 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched in center.
Combine powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth. Carefully spread over warm cake. Cool.
Be careful when spreading the glaze. I was a little too rough when doing mine and messed my cake up a little. (It didn't affect the taste though! lol)
